Keep Your Family In Another City

Happiness is having a large, loving, caring, close-knit family in
another city

This quote was a true gem from comedian George Burns.

I've said before, that only comedians get to tell the truth, and I can vouch for how true this one is.

It just seems that once you're past the stage of childhood and adolescence, family tightness is achieved, paradoxically, by finding that optimal distance.

However, I've found that staying connected virtually doesn't interfere with this phenomenon. You get to send the message that you want, and if you're smart, the message that's best for all parties.

Easier said than done, and of course, I wouldn't be saying that if I wasn't a hypocrite myself. =) I'll take this as a reminder to keep in touch at that optimal distance. If you're trying to do the same, grab the PDF and put it somewhere visible.
